Evi shared some hilarious stories from his time in Europe!
Evi frequently beams with joy as he mentions that “Team Heretics is filled with good people, from teammates to staff!” In this feature, he’s sharing some entertaining stories from his off-the-game experiences.
LoLNinja: Hello, Evi! I’ve heard that you have some entertaining stories to share about Team Heretics today.
TH Evi: Yeah!
There are so many incredibly hilarious stories to share.
Alright, let’s dive right in!
Dashing Through the Hail
TH Evi: So, one day we all went out to have dinner together.
On our way back, we were suddenly caught in an intense hailstorm!
The noise was so intense that we couldn’t even talk to each other.
We tried walking for a short while, but with the hail pelting our bodies, making us go “Ouch…”, I figured it was too difficult to go on.
At that point, I yelled,
“Hey guys! Let’s get a cab!!!”
However, Jankos shouted,
“Nooooooo!!! Let’s go, guys! Run!”
And suddenly, he began dashing wildly through the hail.
We followed Jankos, running after him.
As the hail struck our faces and bodies, we all cried out, “Ouch, ouch!”
We somehow managed to arrive at the gaming house, and there, Jankos, gasping for breath, looked at us and said,
“This is team building…!!!”
Jankos: The cheerful team leader
LoLNinja: That’s so funny!
When I had the opportunity to talk with Jankos in a previous interview, I was surprised by how much of a polite gentleman he was, quite different from the “playful rascal” image I had in mind.
Evi, how do you see Jankos? What’s your impression of him?
TH Evi: Exactly, Jankos is a gentleman.
However, when he’s with his close friends, he reveals a very cheerful and entertaining side.
There was a time when, on a bitterly cold day, he suggested, “Evi, let’s not use Uber today, let’s go home on kick scooters!” And so, with the icy wind making our hands ache, we both rode kick scooters home together!
As we reached the gaming house, shivering, Jankos looked at me and said,
“We are warriors now…!”
LoLNinja: Man, he is just…amazing!
TH Evi: Jankos has incredible leadership, too.
He comes up with various proposals to enhance the team’s bond, such as “Let’s play board games with the entire team once a week” or “Let’s watch one episode of a Japanese anime together before going to sleep.”
LoLNinja: What kind of anime do you guys watch?
TH Evi: Lately, we’ve been watching Blue Lock.
LoLNinja: Blue Lock, huh! It must be quite an inspiring anime for athletes?
TH Evi: That’s right, exactly!
After finishing an episode, we all chat about how fired up we are, saying things like, “Wow… I’m really feeling motivated now!”
You know Mikyx, right? The support player for G2 Esports.
LoLNinja: Hell yeah! I am a huge fan of him!
TH Evi: Yeah, he’s a great player.
He even dropped by my stream once.
He also likes Japanese manga and anime.
He said something like, “Watching them fires me up and helps me manage my motivation.”
LoLNinja: I see! Jankos might be aiming for the same thing.
TH Evi: Jankos always makes us feel his commitment to unite the team.
He always shows us what it means to be a true professional.
It’s scary to think about what would happen to the team without him…
But on the other hand, Jankos has a cute side to him where he loves sweets!
Jankos, thank you so much always! I’m sorry that I often feed when we are on the same team in solo queue!
The Black Tape Incident
TH Evi: Ruby was having trouble with the bright light coming in through the window and was saying, “someone help me~”
So I suggested, “Well, Jankos has some black tape to block out the light from the window, so maybe you could use a little bit?”
So Ruby immediately started working on blocking the light from the window using Jankos‘ black tape.
I thought he was just going to cover it up a little bit, but to my surprise, Ruby completely covered the entire window with the black tape!
And he ended up using all of Jankos‘ black tape.

LoLNinja: Hahaha. His idea to cover the entire window with thin black tape is unique and funny!
TH Evi: Plus, there was actually a curtain attached to the upper part of the window, a pull-down type. However, Ruby didn’t even notice it.
Jack and Mersa pointed out to him, “Ruby, wasn’t there a curtain attached to the top of that window?” and he replied, “Oh…”
Ruby: The heartwarming brother
LoLNinja: He seems like a really cute person indeed! Does he have a bit of a natural airhead to him?
TH Evi: He might have a somewhat natural air to him (laughs).
Ruby is a really kind-hearted person. It feels like having a close brother of the same age.
LoLNinja: Do you have any stories of his kindness?
TH Evi: He actually likes to share things with others.
When he finds something delicious, he often shares it with his teammates.
I remember when I first met Ruby in Spain and introduced myself, he immediately offered me some dried mango and said, “I’m Ruby, nice to meet you! Would you like to try some of this? It’s really delicious!”
LoLNinja: He’s such a kind person!
TH Evi:He really is.
He even cooked for me sometimes.
I was a bit delayed in joining up with the team in Berlin, but Ruby waited for me and even made me dinner!
When I texted him saying, “Ruby, I’m almost there!” he replied, “Evi~, I’ll be waiting! Do you want me to make dinner?”.
I was exhausted after traveling for over 10 hours, so I replied, “Really? That would be amazing, thank you!”.
And then he said, “No problem at all! I’ll make you your favorite cheese ramen!”.
And I have to say, that cheese ramen was amazing!
Ruby, thank you so much always! Honestly, if it weren’t for you, my spirit might have been broken!
Game over in seconds.
TH Evi:As I mentioned earlier, Jankos suggested that we gather once a week to play board games and strengthen our team bond.
One day, we decided to play a game called BANG! with everyone.
This game is really fun, but the rules are a bit complex.
So, we listened to the explanation for about 15 minutes before starting the game.
“So, if this happens, then you do this, right?”
“No, it’s not like that, it happens like this.”
“Ah, I see!”
And finally, the game began.
But on my first turn, I was dealt a special card and suddenly the game was over for me…
So for over an hour, I just sat and watched everyone else playing the game.
“Hmm… looks like everyone is having fun…” I said, and everyone burst out laughing at me.
LoLNinja: Who played the special card?
TH Evi: It was Jack!
Jackspektra: The talented young man
LoLNinja: Jack, despite being so charming, he certainly knows how to deliver the final blow with precision!
TH Evi:Hahaha.
Jack is really a reliable person. He is only 22 years old, but he has well-organized thoughts.
LoLNinja: Do you have any stories to share about Jack?
TH Evi:There was a day when our scrim results were not good and the team was in a bad mood.
So I said to everyone, “I know we’re feeling down, but especially in times like this, let’s stay positive!”
Then Jack said, “Yeah, I agree!” and from then on, he kept encouraging the team by saying “Guys, positive, positive” whenever he could.
LoLNinja: That’s great!
Speaking of Jack, his well-trained physique is also beautiful.

TH Evi: He also does workouts as a part of stress management. He has a good self-management and game sense, and I believe he will continue to grow more in the future.
LoLNinja: He definitely has potential!
Do you have any interesting episodes to share?
TH Evi: Jack eats kiwi fruit skin and all.
But since Jankos also eats the skin, maybe it’s just a normal thing in Europe.
Anyone else is a hairy kiwi believer? pic.twitter.com/ZQIRc9lciW

Jack, thank you so much always! You always explain difficult English in simple terms, and it really helps me out!
The difference between ‘good job !!!’ and ‘good job…’
TH Evi: Mersa always praises me when I make good plays. He would say something like “Evi! Good job!!! Well played!!!” and it makes me really happy.
TH Evi: So I asked Jack, who is Mersa’s bot duo partner:
“Hey Jack, doesn’t it feel good when Mersa says ‘Good job’ to you? I love it!”
Then, Jack said, ‘Well, it’s okay, I guess…’ with that kind of tone.
Therefore, I asked Jack why, and he replied:
“Well, it’s not as exciting as when he compliments Evi. He just quietly says ‘Good job…'”
Mersa: The tiltless
LoLNinja: What kind of person is Mersa?
TH Evi: Mersa is not living in the gaming house for some reason, so I have fewer opportunities to talk with him during dinner or other occasions compared to other players. He is always calm, but not really quiet and will speak to me in a friendly way. I’ve never seen him tilted!
Mersa, thank you so much always! Join us for the multilingual walking next time!
Japanese Samurai
TH Evi: When I make a good play, SeeEl coach’s praise is quite likely to be “Wow! Japanese Samurai!”
LoLNinja: How do you respond to that?
TH Evi: I usually respond with a quiet “Th-thank you…” (blushes)
Peter and SeeEl: Great coaches with a flexible yet solid philosophy
LoLNinja: You told me about SeeEl Coach before. He is a very flexible coach.
TH Evi: Yeah.
Peter too.
They generally do not force their opinions on the players.
They listen to our opinions carefully and if they think it makes sense, they will be flexible enough to say, “Okay, let’s try your idea!” However, they are not hands-off either.
LoLNinja: What do you mean?
TH Evi: I had a discussion with Peter once.
When I make calls to my teammates, I tend to include the specific action I want them to take.
For example, “The enemy top laner has teleport, so they might teleport to bot lane. Back off!” or something like that.
But Peter said, “It’s okay to give information, but it’s not okay to call specific actions like that.”
So I explained to him, “I’m worried if I just give information, my teammates might not know what action to take. That’s why I include the specific action I want them to take.”
And then Peter said, “I understand your point, Evi, but to win and grow, you also need to trust your teammates. You have to trust your teammates.”
LoLNinja: Peter wanted each player to be able to make their own judgments.
TH Evi: Maybe that’s right.
They approach us with a solid coaching philosophy while being flexible and open to incorporating our ideas.
Thank you so much Peter and SeeEl!
Ending
LoLNinja: Thank you so much for sharing your fun stories with us!
What have you been up to during the off-season?
TH Evi: I have been practicing and studying English. It’s not really an off-season for me, but more like a preparation period for the next season.
LoLNinja: Keep up the good work! Looking forward to hearing more fun stories from you.
TH Evi: Sure! Please look forward to it!
